The first part of this blog is a continuation of yesterdays blog from Arlene. Then Chad takes over for July 8th.
In my effort to get this post off to you yesterday I sent it hoping the events of the day were pretty much concluded....I should have known better.
It took some time for the repair place to get our brake pads repaired enough for us to proceed to Kigali. We were there about 2 1/2 hours and it was quite dark by the time we left. I was very surprised that they could accomplish this task outside and in the dark.
As time passed the Holy Spirit was at work bringing 10 more to saving knowledge in Christ as Pastor Aaron and Alfred shared the gospel with a group of the mechanics.
The group of listeners doubled a few minutes after this photo |
Chad found a nearby shop and brought back samosas and a few bags of cookies which he handed out to the mechanics and the rest of our team to tide us over. God definitely had a purpose for us stopping at this shop for repairs. We were thankful we had gone safely along the curvy roads in the forest with his continued hand on us on that road and the next day on the windy roads to the TIG camp.

Chad:
Moucecore has been our home up until our five day trip to Cyangugu. Crawling in late last night it was nice to slide into our old familiar beds. A quick breakfast of oblong pancakes and then we're on our way to pick up the prison official that would lead us to the TIG camp. As far as roads in the hills this one wasn't all that bad and we made good time to the camp. This TIG camp was nestled at the bottom of a valley surrounded by giant honeycomb like structures. The strange shapes turn out to be ovens for making bricks. This TIG camp specialized in making bricks and the mountains of bricks piled throughout the camp are a testament to their hard work. Arlene begins to speak to the 46 prisoners who are sitting in the shade of a few trees. Every eye is transfixed on her as she moves about, sometimes animating her words with actions and sometimes bringing out a few simple props like a rope to accent her point. We finish around three and head back to home base to clean up and prepare for tomorrow which brings us a new day and a new prison.
