Ministry Partners,
To say today was interesting to say the least.
After our 8 o’clock breakfast we were off to town at
9 to start running a list of errands although we never dreamed we would do some
twice. I just want to take you on our journey today.
The guys are always ready for a roadside snack of roasted corn.
1. Stop
by the printerie and get the remaining 2,000 Discipleship Booklets. When we stopped
we were informed that the woman we ordered them from and the owner were both
gone to a funeral so we would not be able to pick them up.
2. Contact
the car rental company to come meet us with another van so they could take ours
and checkout the radiator and cooling system. Alfred tried the man’s number at
least 6 times and the recording said the man’s phone was off. There was no way
to leave a message.
3. Go
to the bank to see if our funds that New Life had wired last week had been
received and get a check book for the account. Alfred left me off at the bank
and went to park at a place we use when we are in that part of town. It’s 10 –
12 blocks from the bank and I can tell you we are thankful it’s there. Trust me,
parking in downtown Kampala is CRAZY to find. After Alfred got to the bank we
went to the first counter and were informed that the bank had not posted the
photos we had left last week to our account so we were directed to another
counter where we need to prove who we were and then a third counter where the
lady saw that the photos were posted and then directed us back to the first
counter all to have them advise us that the funds had not arrived!!!
4. As
we walked to the car Alfred was called by someone who said he would open the
printerie so we could get our booklets so we returned there and actually
finding a parking place nearby. Praise Jesus for intervening and for one errand
completed!
5. We
returned to our special parking
place as the bank had called and said that our funds had been received. Alfred
left me in the van and made the walk to the bank only to discover that although
the funds had been received with our names and info THE FUNDS COULD NOT BE
RELEASED TO OUR ACCOUNT. Alfred arrived at the van to get me to walk back to
the bank where Alfred went to another floor and then we went to the office of
the assistant Manager. Although we presented her with the IRM map itinerary and a copy of the reference letter the Deputy Commissioner
had written and my personal info. She said I would have to present a copy of a
letter from New Life proving I was legit and really associated with them!!!!!
And then she would give all that info to the Manager and he would make the
determination about releasing our funds to our account. We then walked back to the car, the sun was HOT and people and traffic are everywhere, dodging them is an art Alfred knows well. He laughed and told me to just hold his hand and follow his footsteps!
6. We
met for a late, late lunch with Foursquare Pastor John Kamanzi, who I met last
year. We discussed among other things, our partnership for ministry in 2017. I
now know where to get great pizza here and left with ½ to have for my dinner
later tonight.
7. When
we arrived back at the hotel Alfred and I sorted the booklets into stacks and
the boxes as the printerie gave then to us just thrown into 2 very large boxes.
We were quite a sight as Alfred was sitting on the ground sorting and counting 1 large box and I was sitting in
the back of the van with the door up doing the same. We got them about ½ done
and since it was past dark the rest will have to wait until later.
8. After
notifying Pastor James at New Life he immediately responded with the info we
needed and Alfred was able to have the copy we need printed so we can return to
the bank in the morning on the way to prison #6 where we will minister about 12
noon.
9. Posting
this is the last task for today as it is 10:30 and I am tired.
Please pray;
·
That our funds would be released into
our account tomorrow as the IRM cash
I brought with me is fully depleted.
·
Open hearts for the Gospel ate the small
prison we are scheduled to go to tomorrow.
That
none would be lost,
Arlene
