God surely did have the victory today and he showered us with it!!!
I was an early morning wake up call.
The day began early with breakfast at 6:30am and the team had an
omelet, toast bread, African tea, samosas and Arlene’s favorite pineapple
juice. The team set off to do errands in the city and included on the to do list
was:
·
Meeting Government officials at Uganda Prison
Services -
T It was the best
meeting that IRM has ever had with the Uganda Prison service. The amazing
experience was finding out that all officials that IRM would work with were
promoted accordingly: Mrs. Elizabeth Nanfuka the former Assistant Commissioner
was promoted to the rank of Commissioner and Mr. Ben, her assistant, to the rank of Assistant
Commissioner. The Assistant Commissioner
also provided a "Letter of Recommendation" to Arlene, as a partner to Uganda Prison Service,
which was meant to support the opening of an account at the bank. He
also agreed to procure the blankets we were requested to buy as well as
seeing to it that they would be delivered to our storage area at out
hotel. The time with him was 2 hours. Pastor Geoffrey stayed busy all day just doing everything to do with the Prison Commission.
·
Opening the IRM account at Centenary Bank of
Uganda -
The bank experience was quite
unique. The whole process took us three hours because we moved from counter to
counter and in total we were served at four different counters just today (2 different Account
opening counters, Deposit counter (for minimum account opening balance) and Customer
care counter to secure bank details. Each counter had a long queue which was an
experience that was quite interesting. Nonetheless, we were able to receive the
information and now IRM has an account with Centenary Bank of Uganda.
· Bibles from Uganda Bible Society -
Uganda Bible Society gave us a warm welcome but
shortly after
that they couldn’t find the "Line of Credit Certificate" from American
Bible Society. After a
while of deliberations, one staff Joan took an initiative to contact Mr.
Justus
who discovered that the transfers were made in form of a project and the
person
in charge of projects was not in his office. We therefore stayed for
about 4 1/2
hours waiting for the whole process from granting the permission to the
store
manager Daniel to release the Bibles. At one point after about 3 hours
and one official looking at my emails from the American Bible Society we
were told we would have to prove who we were. I am telling you for sure,
I am blessed by God and so is IRM to have Alfred in charge here as he
knows just how to work with this culture but by the end of the day even
he was shaking his head. IRM rented a pick up who said he could
deliver the Bibles to us but with 1,200 or so Bibles loaded he decided
he could not so we hired a small truck and they bibles had to be
reloaded. Those precious Bibles were finally delivered to our hotel
storage area. Pastor Aaron and Alfred got in the "loading line" and had
so many cases thrown at them and then lifted so very many cases of
Bibles I'm not sure they will be able to move tomorrow.
The loading line plus 2 in the pickup bed
These dedicated men both prove that doing ministry takes a commitment of the heart and body.

Receiving supplies (Bibles and Blankets) at our
hotel -
The Uganda Prison Services delivered the blankets
to the
hotel and the IRM team delivered the Bibles. Geoffrey joined us as we took
some time and gathered together, laying hands on the Bibles and praying
over them. Would you also join with us and pray concerning who will
receive them?

Food finally -
The day’s errands were finished and
the day ended joyfully as we finally sat down to eat our only meal since breakfast. The guys would not stop for even the famous IRM peanut butter sandwich as they wanted to stay on each errand as they call it until it was completed.
I
am so thankful that Alfred wrote most of this post and since it is
12:40 and I still have to bathe I will just say
......
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY
Pastor Aaron senses the the spirit of confusion & opposition is at work
That none would be lost,
Arlene
