Ministry Partners,
I can not tell you how excited the team is for this
new journey. Everything will be different and there will be things for us to
learn at every level.
We had a late breakfast since we are not visiting a prison today instead we are crossing into Tanzania. We left our hotel at 10am and arrived at the boarder at about 11:30. Going through Customs/Immigration took forever.
They did not like my Yellow Fever Immunization card and said that I would have to pay for another Yellow Fever shot ($50) but because I was over 60 I would not actually have to get the shot!!! Are you seeing the humor in that, they really did not care if I got the shot, just pay the money.
And the humor kept coming. Just as we got to the last gate to leave a man stopped us and said we had to have a fire extinguisher and Emergency triangles that he just "happened" to have that he could sell us. Alfred called the man, that had left, that was helping us through the process and he said he would bring a cheaper one to us. Finally, having been at the boarder for 3hr. 45 min and jumped through all kinds of hoops and paying almost $800, we were able to leave.
We traveled to met with two Tanzanian Pastors. We traveled a bit farther and the pastor directed us to a hotel. It is just amazing how God took care of these weary travelers today. The hotel only had three rooms left, 1 for me and 2 rooms with twin beds for the guys.
I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken for dinner and it was okay but it was not the Sweet and Sour I am familiar with
The internet here is REALLY weak, not even a bar just a dot, so I am not sure this will get posted to fb tonight, if not I will still post it there when internet is available.
That none would be lost,
Arlene
How exciting to see what God is going to do in this new country and with the new pastors who want you to come so much!
