Dec. 14 - We were approved on the spot for two unscheduled prison crusade in Kenya

 Ministry Partners,

Today is another travel day.

Bishop Cen (Ken, in English) Ojunju that we met yesterday when we arrived in Kenya was unable to get us into the prisons here because our request did not give him enough time so we have decided to return to Uganda where we still have 7 prison crusades to do. Alfred is going to contact the Commissioner there and see if he can give us 3 additional prisons for our now unscheduled days.

Bishop Cen and another pastor came to our hotel right after breakfast today to say good by and talk again briefly about our coming back next year to work with him in the prisons in this part of Kenya. It is a wonderful opportunity to pray about and seek God's leading.

It seems that we picked up 3 good sized and 3 small nails that have punctured one of our back tires so that tire was almost flat this morning. We made it to a gas station that had air and a tire repair place and the tire was repaired. We wanted to leave no later than 10 but we were unable to leave town until 11am and it was a 6 hour drive to the border of Uganda.

I have done 20 trips to the Great Lakes region of Africa and each trip always has difficulties of it's own because it is part of being and traveling in Africa and then there are times that you know without a doubt that the difficulty if from Satan's hand. Those times give us the opportunity to trust God and watch Him provide and care for us. It brings such peace in knowing that He is in charge of our day and we ourselves are in his care. God has blessed me with my son, Alfred and Aaron, who claims to be son #2, who take such good care of me and looks after me.

While they were repairing the tire Alfred asked, "Why did only that one tire take all 6 punctures?' To which Aaron said, "That tire had issues." which made us all laugh. I am thankful for these two and the humor we share every day. As you can tell I sure love them.

The repairs took only about an hour and we were on our way about 11 o'clock. We drove for 6+ hours straight through to Busia. When we arrived the first thing we did was stop by the prison that was right next to the road, I was here about 5 years ago. Actually, we passed it and Alfred told Aaron to turn around and go back. Because we are using days that were originally scheduled for Tanzania. we did not have any crusades scheduled here this year. But Alfred went to the front gate and spoke to the head officer there asking to see the Prison O.C.. It is an amazing thing when God opens doors. That officer had one of the security officers, with his gun, get into our van and he escorted us to the O.C.'s office.

After a bit of a discussion the O.C. approved for us to hold a 1 1/2 hr. crusade tomorrow for the men followed by a 1 1/2 hr. crusade for the women. He told us to purchase soap and toilet tissue for the men and soap and feminine hygiene products for the women.

Then the most unusual thing happened. He asked us if we had a place to stay to which we said no, we had just arrived in town so he called over another officer and instructed him to go with us to show us a couple of places to choose from for us to stay at. He also told him to show us which store to buy the supplies at.

No prison official has ever done that for us.

Arlene and the prison guard who help us find rooms.

With all we went through in Tanzania it is quite evident that God was pouring out his blessings on us today.

Alfred got me settled and then he, Aaron and the guard went to purchase the supplies we need for tomorrow. I am setting in my room writing this and the power goes out. It has been a familiar event this trip, I hope it does not stay off for long so I can get this posted. If it stays off, I will post it the first chance I get.

By the time the guys returned from shopping it was late so we had the dinner Alfred ordered before they left and then it was off to bed for all of us. Although Aaron did almost all the driving today all of us were so very tired. I think the heat has a lot to do with that, it is extremely hot here.

Please pray for this new opportunity tomorrow:

  • That the Holy Spirit would bring many to salvation
  • Forgiveness & apologies decisions would be many
  • That the team would have a fresh and powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit

That none would be lost,

Arlene
